WORKSHOPS

‘LESSONS FROM COLD WATER.’

I’ve been facilitating cold water workshops for two years, guiding clients through the process of using ice baths to improve their wellbeing, reassuring them that the cold is not an enemy but a friend.Charlotte: cold water therapist and trainee counsellor

The cold as a teacher

Cold water is a fitting analogy for so many challenges we encounter in our daily lives and by opening ourselves up to the lessons it offers, we can move forward as more resilient and confident people. Difficult feelings do pass, it tells us. Sit with them. With pain comes great reward. You are adaptable. Step out of that comfort zone of yours. Face your fear.

The goal

My aim in these 2-hour workshops is not to convert you all into daily ice bath dippers (although that would be great!) but to send you home with a renewed self-awareness and understanding. I want you to see a version of you which surprises you!

Finding your tribe

The workshop is a challenging and reflective experience and can cause emotions to rise to the surface. I’m currently studying to become a fully qualified counsellor so am equipped to listen to any thoughts and feelings which may come up for you. I do encourage you to share what’s going on for you in your life as this can be very rewarding, listening to others who are experiencing similar issues. This is where the concept of the Tribe becomes very real.

The workshopWhat will happen?

1. Welcome everyone. Lovely to meet you.
2. Interactive icebreakers within the group.
3. Reflective journaling exercise.
4. Simple breathing techniques.
5. Ice bath immersion.
6. Hot chocolate and blankets.
7. Therapeutic time around the firepit.
8. Home for a good night’s sleep.

The group will consist of no more than 12 like-minded and adventurous women.

It is held in the village of Shepherdswell, Kent CT15.

The workshop moves between indoor and outdoor spaces.

Thank you for your warm welcome and reassuring words. I emerged from the water relaxed but energised, a combination which is rare to achieve. After the session, I was due to go to the pub with a friend but because I felt so calm I decided to have a cosy night in with a movie instead!
